A snapshot of where I am right now, and where I plan to be.
I have a clear objective: I want to become an associate professor, preferrible here in Brazil. To that end, I am now finishing my PhD and I'll be starting my Post-Doc at the Federal University of São Carlos, under the supervision of Prof. Victor Carlos Pandolfelli. This is an opportunity to both continue developing my research subject and to keep progressing the existing international collaboration network that I am part of, as well as to prepare myself for the next stage of my career. This involves several nice things, such as i) co-supervising graduate students, ii) finding new undergrad ones willing to work on our research projects, iii) constantly look for open positions, iv) continue my research, v) conclude previously started projects and publish unfinished papers (a.k.a the "low hanging fruits" from my PhD), vi) review papers and proposals, vii) participate in conferences, viii) prospect new collaborations and research projects...
The current challenge is to design and build a new sample environment that enables imaging analysis with a higher spatial resolution. To that end, I am eager to mess around with 3D printing for protoyping, as well as use an Arduino for controlling the temperature evolution and acquiring the data. It has been a long time since I was involved in a hands-on project, and I am looking forwards to work with eletronics again.
I am very excited with the idea of creating video animations to explain concepts in Materials Science and Engineering using Manim CE. I believe they complement very well the interactive widgets that I have been developing over at inter mat, and I plan to develop a similar strategy of a "hub" at ani mat. I have been taking the course by Prof. Júlio Lombado. This semester I am planning to contribute to my first course at PPGCEM, and also work on the proposal of a course uniting Python and Materials Science.
I am now focusing on having a more healthy life. After 13 years, I am back to swimming, and in conjunction to weight lifting at the gym and Pilates, I plan to have a healthier body and mind. I just started reading the Stuff Matters by UCL Professor Mark Miodownik, and I am curious to see if I can "feel" the book "aging" with the latest developments in Materials Science. Finally, I am also taking care of my small garden.
